Pyle 1200 watt marine amplifier subwoofer level control not working?

okay so i bought a pyle hydra 1200 watt marine amp 4 channel with public address and it came with a subwhoofer level control unit. i went out and bout and kicker 12 inch sub at 4ohms along with 2 tower speakers at 550 watts and 4ohms and two lower speaker that are jbl 150 watt peak 60 watt rms the system sounds good when running but my subwhoofer level controler does not work. i have not figured out any possible reasons other then maybe my sub isnt the correct ohms. i am not sure that this will affect the controler at all.. any sugestions?
